Birthday weekend away!

It has been awhile since I last blogged as I have been busy with family birthdays! In a space of a week, there are 4 birthdays, my brother-in-law is first on the 19th, then my hubby on the 21st, my nephew on the 22nd and lastly my niece on the 26th April! So, it is very an expensive month and lots of food & cakes being eaten!!! 🙂

For my hubby’s birthday, we spent the weekend away in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and what a lovely beautiful market town and I would highly recommend this place if you haven’t visited before. I really liked it there as it had the old town of cobbled streets and then it has a new modern area full of shops!! It is also well-known for the Greene King brewery which my hubby conveniently booked us a tour on his actual birthday!!! He will be posting an entry on this separately as I am not much of a drinker and more of speciality for him than me!!

In a small market town, you would always find little cake shops and bakeries, we also paid them a visit aswell and purchase a few sweet things!! 🙂

We had a fab time of enjoying the sights, shops and eating good food!!! 🙂

Not for the faint hearted….Roasted Cuy

Heath_pic_2Our friend, Heath is having a fab time in Peru and he has posted me his experience of eating a ‘Roasted Cuy’ which is a Guinea Pig!!!
Here’s what he said:

“Well, I’ve finally had my first (and probably last) taste of Peru’s national dish!…It’s called Cuy which is Guinea Pig (part of the rat family!)…..Peruvians go mad for Guinea Pig over here and it’s seen as a delicacy. Mine was deep fried and it came with (all) it’s teeth intact…The taste? Well, I’m happy to say it tasted better than it looked, which wasn’t difficult. It tasted a bit like very tender chicken…But apparently the brain is meant to be the best part – i gave it a try and then stopped….it tasted like a mixture of greasy & sweaty cardboard!!!”

I think Heath is pretty brave with his food as I wouldn’t be able to stomach this especially it’s fried as well!!! But, well done to him for trying the local delicacies in his travel!! 🙂

The Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show!

Yeah!!! I can finally use my computer now!! 🙂 We have backed up our computer and installed the Norton Anti-virus software! Yesterday, I went to ‘The Sugarcraft, Cake Decorating and Baking Show’ at the ExCel centre in East London. There were a lot of people, very busy and pushy women!!

This is my favourite one as the cakes were so tiny but really detailed! Very cute!

I went last year and it seems like they have definitely expanded their exhibitors list and it was much more spacious with more things to see and do!!! We were there from morning until nearly closing time which is about 5pm!! Time just flies when you are at this show, we couldn’t believe how long we were there for and we didn’t even see any demonstrations!!! 🙂 We spent most of the morning admiring all the beautiful cakes that people have entered for the competitions (different levels), they were amazing, I have taken a few snaps to show you!! The attention to detail on the cakes and the presentation of them was mind-blowing!!!

My Shopping!

My Shopping!

My hubby was pleased to see that I was only carrying 2 bags when he picked me up from the station as he was probably expecting me to carry more bags and plastic cake carriers etc!! I only spent £35 so I was happy as sometimes I do carried away!!! 🙂 It was a lovely day out with the girls! 🙂

This looked amazing! I'm suprised it didn't topple over!

Cake international event

We have finally got our computer fixed and luckily, we didn’t lose anything so i am very grateful!! I went and brought the Norton anti virus disk today and will install this before I go visiting any other websites!!!

I will be going to the sugarcraft, cake decoration and baking show tomorrow at the Excel centre in East London! The show started today until this Sunday, so I’m really looking forward to it!! 🙂 Last year, I went with my hubby and he was shocked at the behaviour of the women as he never seen anything so crazy, he said its worse than going to a wedding show!! He was literally pushed and shoved around as he was looking at different stalls!! As I didn’t want to him to go through that experience again, I’m going with my sister in law, Sharon and our friend, Katy so it will be a nice day out with the girls! For more info on this show, visit cakeinternational.co.uk. I have set myself a budget for tomorrow as I do get over excited when I see tins, cupcake cases, equipment etc…!!! 🙂

Hit with a computer virus!!!

Sorry for the lack of posts recently as my computer has been spammed with a virus so I am unable to get access to anything!
😦 Such a pain!! My hubby is taking the computer to fix somewhere and hopefully we won’t lose our photos, docs and music! I would be devastated to know that everything is lost due to our laziness!!! The moral of the story is now to renew Norton Anti Virus and to get into a very good habit if backing up your hardrive!!!

I did download the WordPress app on my phone but wrote the post twice and I couldn’t find the drafts anymore so I was feeling very frustrated with all these technological iseues that I’m experiencing!!! Hopefully, the computer will be fixed soon and I can start blogging again as I have got so much to tell!!! 🙂
